Hyner View Trail Challenge
I know it's ten months out...but if anyone is interested, this 20k trail run has a 4200 foot climb. I would love it if we had a contingent of barefooters in this race.
Take a look at the pictures and the elevation specs.
Stay naked, or nearly so!
Nate
Hey this sounds like it would be awesome. However , I am still in the initial stages of transitioning to BFR and don't think I would be up to the challenge in less than a year. Thanks for the info though..maybe 2012's? haha
I just started BF running (but have been BF all day for the most part for more than 10 years) in May....I plan on doing it
....I believe there was a guy last year who did it in KSOs though....In fact, it was a promise to a friend of mine to do this with him next year that got me "running" to begin with...which quickly led to the discovery of BF running, since I HATED how it felt to run with shoes
...so, now I feel pretty obligated to do it bare, even if I have to walk on my hands for the last mile
That being said, before I injured myself, I was running these kinds of trails a few times a week, and I plan on getting back on that soon as I'm healed up
.
Watching the slide show I saw a guy in KSO's (black VFF's) I think I'd opt for my Bikilas to try this one. The shale slopes on the downhills especially look pretty nasty for BF dancing. I checked with my friend, Mr. GoogleMap, and see that it's 184 miles to Lock Haven. I'm going to have to be pretty desparate for a run to travel that far. I'm just spoiled, I guess, by having so many within easy range of Philly. The terrain did look mighty awesome!
and it's more north than lock haven....I think I can do it bare, just might not be fast
.
This one looks similar, I think it's the other side of the mountain, and is 50 miles? http://www.tusseymountainback.com/index.html
Nate, this sounds amazing. I'm crossing my fingers for quick healing. Probably a little optimistic at this point for me but I'm keeping it on the radar.
I plan on doing the tussey mountain back next year
...it will be my first ultra...the hyner and marathons are just my warm up
Cool, I think Jeff has his eye on that one. I could crew for you both
that'd be awesome!
