Hawaii Chapter

Welcome to the Hawaii Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society

****

Aloha!

Barefooting and Hawaii to go together like our relaxed attitude and even more relaxed dress code. With beautiful year-round weather (baring the occasional tsunami), beaches you can get to before Dominos can get your pizza to you, and open-armed sense of aloha, going barefoot isn't as radical and idea here at it might be some other places. That doesn't mean that barefoot running is the norm, but we are more likely to get a friendly, "Ho! Lookit dis one braddah hea. You one crazy buggah, eh? You go come run widout nuthin on your feets," than some of our mainland compatriots.

The Hawaii Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society seeks to promote and grow the Hawaii barefoot running community through events, education, and barefoot running resources.  This is a site for Minnesota barefoot runners, those who run in minimalist shoes, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the sport.

We hope to provide members with:

  • Information and links to barefoot and minimalist events in Minnesota and the surrounding area
  • Articles, news, and forum discussions to educate you about barefoot and minimalist running, as well as dispel the myths surrounding the sport
  • Resources to unite barefoot and minimalist runners in Minnesota and the surrounding area for support, community, and good times.

For up to the minute news, events, and links, you can follow us on facebook on our fan page: Barefoot Runers Society- Hawaii Chapter

Message Dirtbag if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about our page.

Thanks for joining our Chapter, and WELCOME!

A NOTE FOR CHAPTER POSTINGS: All members have the ability to post items and events on the chapter wall.  We ask that all chapter postings be related to barefoot running.  If you have an item of discussion, we ask that you post the matter on the chapter forum instead of the chapter main page to avoid clutter.

Chapter postings will be removed by the site administrator after one month, or after the event described in the posting has occurred (whichever comes first). Mahalo!

Hawaii Group Run 9/11

Hawaii BFRs,

I want to do another group run this Sunday. I'm thinking meet up at 24 Hour Fitness Mililani again at 10am (earlier to avoid to heat), and a nice easy 3 miles, or a nice easy 30-45 minute run. Thoughts?

Hawaii Group Run

Ok, I've been a terrible, horrible, no good Chapter President when it comes to putting together group runs. But now I'm back on the island for a while, big races and events are far in the future, and I'm ready to recitfy my lack of runs with fellow BRSers.

I would like to get together Saturday the 6th or Sunday the 7th. I prefer somewhere on the North Shore side, maybe Haleiwa area, or possible Mililani, but if there are many people who would like to run somewhere else, please let me know.
