California-San Francisco Chapter
Welcome to
The California-San Franscisco Chapter
of
The Barefoot Runners Society!
My name is Terry Orsi. I will be representing you as the San Francisco Chapter President of the BRS.
Being that BRS is a new organization, we have the opportunity to help set the framework for the future of the society. I am excited to have this opportunity to work with all of you in creating a group of barefoot/minimalist runners for the northern part of our state. I am open to your thoughts and ideas. If, at any time you, have a suggestion that can help the group, please let me know.
I will be sending out information about group runs and other meeting ideas shortly. I am also compiling a list of member locations, so I can better plan group runs.
Please keep an eye out for upcoming events and join us!!!
Again, welcome to the California-SF Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society!
Belated Happy New Year! ~ a message from your Prez
OR maybe if I wait a bit longer, I can say Happy Chinese New Year and not be late!!!
Ok, my apologies to everyone that I have not been an active chapter president as of late. . .
In trying to get some REAL interest and chatter in our chapter, I would like to see as many of our 131 members post comments to this posting.
1) What are your 2012 running goals? Planned races? Other fitness goals?
2) What locations do you think would make great "group run" sites?

WASSSSSAAAAA my Bay Area BF brothers and sisters???
Hello everyone, I'm coming down to spend the festivities in Marin and just wanted to give anyone in the area (or willing to travel to) a heads up that I'll be running regularly on Mt. Tam and the surrounding areas between the 20th of December and the 5th of January. I'd be stoked to meet anybody from the SF chapter for a BF run. Terry will you be around?

Running Barefoot in San Francisco - Notes & Comments
(Note - Added more notes as of 9/24/2011, scroll down.)
In this thread I'll share my experiences so far running barefoot in San Francisco:
About me: Started runnning barefoot (no VFF) around March this year.
Have logged about 110 miles, cumulative. Average about 4 to 5 miles per run at around a 9m pace. (8m on track.) Blister-limit to-date is about 9 miles. (I.e. how far I can run before I feel the onset of blisters.
Fall Barefoot Group Runs
Hello all,
I'm working on scheduling group runs for September through December.
I'm stealing part of this model from Barefoot Henry of our San Diego Chapter, but here it is. . .
Please send me the following information through a private message through the BRS site or you may post as a comment to this posting if you are comfortable.
Barefoot Trails
Hello Barefooters,
I live in Sonoma, but travel frequently around the bay area (north bay mostly) and out to Sacramento/Stockton area. Does anyone have any suggestions for fun trails to run that are good for barefoot running? (limited/no fireroads)
Happy running!

Western States 100
Anyone going to the WS100? I signed up to work at an aid station. Waiting to hear back on where.
Other note: Keep your eyes open for upcoming group runs in July - thinking one in early July at Lake Chabot and then another in the Sacramento area either Consumnes River Preserve or along the American River trail somewhere. Let me know if you're up for either event (which weekends work best for you, etc.)

Race to be Great 5k, Petaluma
I am working with RunNaturally.org and the Boys and Girls Club of Marin and Southern Sonoma Counties to produce a fundraising 5k. I am also training the children and teens of the Boys and Girls club to run this event. As a minimalist runner myself I would love to get a good minimalist/barefoot turnout.
Check out the RaceToBeGreat.com for all the information.
